December processing statements are where you can discover new paragraphs detailing changes in your plan and increases in fees for the coming year.
My No. 1 Recommendation for the New Year is to request a "sit down" with your Local Credit Card Processing Rep to review your December statement so you are not blindsided by increases in 2018. Among the questions you want to ask:
- Where am I in my contract? Are you coming up on the dreaded Auto Renewal?
- Has my average ticket changed over the last 12 months? You may want to renegotiate your Transaction Fee.
- When am I charged Annual Fee? When am I charged PCI Compliance? When was the last time I completed the annual PCI Compliance Survey?
December is the best time to have a "heart to heart" with your Local Credit Card Processing Rep. If not, you may be in for surprises that cost you serious cash and frustration.
